It is a miracle I ever became interested in bluegrass music after having to listen to my brother practice his banjo and guitar all afternoon and evening during our high school years. After I moved out and got away from it for awhile, I went to a few festivals and began to love the music. My brother, Dave Dalton, taught our sister, Carol, how to play guitar and me to play bass. The three of us began to play together. Then we met Rich Ferguson at church and that was the beginning of the Gospel Creek Bluegrass Band. I still love bluegrass and enjoy jamming whenever possible.
Even more important to me than bluegrass is the Lord Jesus Christ. I became a Christ follower at age 14. The year I was at CSUH, I was involved with Campus Crusade for Christ. I graduated from college and had more time available, so I began to volunteer in the youth group at my church. That continued for 17 years and although I no longer volunteer in the youth group, I still have a heart for teens today. I also joined the church choir. After Rich’s wife passed away, our friendship blossomed into romance and we married. We became involved with the Christian Hot Rod Association and eventually felt led by the Lord to start a similar ministry for our brothers and sisters in the bluegrass world. To that end, The Christian Bluegrass Association was born. We pray God will use this ministry to encourage and support fellow Christians at bluegrass events.
I currently teach kindergarten and help take care of our 15 month old grandson when his Mom is working. He is such a blessing to us! God is good!
